DEHRA DUN: Forensic experts have told the sessions court hearing the Madhumita Shukla murder case that the DNA of her seven-month-old foetus matched that of prime accused Amarmani Tripathi, a sitting legislator in the assembly. At a hearing on Thursday, an expert from the Hyderabad-based Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics confirmed the DNA match.
This was reconfirmed in the hearing on Friday evening by Dr Kapil Suri, a doctor from New Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital. Suri told the court that he had drawn Amarmani's blood sample and given it to the Hyderabad-based institute.
The evidence proves Tripathi was the father of Madhumita's unborn child. Poetess Madhumita was reportedly having an affair with Tripathi, then a minister in the UP government, and was murdered on May 9, 2003, allegedly at the behest of Tripathi's wife Madhumani. CBI DIG M Pankaj Kumar Singh said that the scientific evidence was irrefutable.
